Cafe Nur sits quietly in the heritage-rich Kala Ghoda district, offering a focused menu rooted in traditional Indian and Mughlai flavors. Despite being labeled a cafe, it feels more like a compact restaurant specializing in meat-centric dishes such as mutton seekh kebabs, nihari, and slow-cooked raan. The space itself is intimate and styled with touches that evoke old Bombay mixed with a North African or Middle Eastern charm, making dining here as much a sensory experience as the food.

Visitors tend to come in small groups or families who appreciate rich, hearty meals made with care. The menu is concise but deliberate – kebabs, rolls, and biryanis dominate, each dish serving generous portions and showcasing excellent quality mutton and spices. The breakfast options, including variations of eggs and paratha, suggest that Cafe Nur is no stranger to early visitors, although most guests seem drawn in for lunch or dinner, when the full depth of flavors comes alive.

The atmosphere is warm and layered with character; it feels both a retreat and a meeting point. It’s a place where you have to plan ahead—weekdays can get busy enough to require reservations. This suggests a steady stream of regulars alongside first-timers looking for comfort food anchored in local tradition rather than modern café trends.

For those who enjoy rich, home-style Mughlai and Indian non-vegetarian dishes in a setting that evokes history and warmth, Cafe Nur delivers a solid and satisfying experience. It’s best visited during quieter weekday lunches or early dinners to soak in the ambiance without the weekend rush. Expect a focused menu, generous servings, and a cozy environment that’s good for intimate meals with friends or family who appreciate classic Mumbai flavors and a bit of old-world vibe.

Food was good, spicy and almost everything had similar spice. The quantity in every portion is excellent. The drinks from Pallongi are traditionally Indian. Deserts are delicious too. Quality of mutton used is excellent.

A visit to Cafe Nur feels like stepping into Egypt or Morocco — the ambience instantly transports you with its charm and character. The food, however, is the real star. Everything we tried was absolutely impeccable, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. We ordered: • Nalli Barra • Mutton Seekh Kabab • Chicken Seekh Kabab • Mutton Bawda (Raan) • Mutton Biryani • Kabab Pav • Chicken Chooza • Kamachi Roti • Pallonji Soda Every dish stood out, rich in taste and made with pure desi ghee, which elevated the experience even more. A true hidden gem in Fort — highly recommended if you want authentic flavors paired with a beautiful Middle Eastern vibe.

Went with family...loved the food and the ambience! The seekh kebab and tikkas are awesome. The ambience reminds us of old Bombay. Food for the soul! Do make a booking in advance, as there was a waiting even on a weekday... which proves just how good they are!

Tried Cafe Nur recently. For non vegetarian, meat lovers it is a treat! They specialise in rolls, kebabs, biryani with a short but focused menu. Go for breakfast, lunch or dinner their menu caters to all. Loved fresh hot khamiri nan with mutton kebab, nalli nihari left smooth taste on buds. Chicken biryani was not exciting which by the way was a wrong delivery on the table. We missed the mutton biryani this time. The place seemed new so did the staff and was a bit all over. Over all food was good quality, tasty and reasonably priced. Noteworthy their playlist was great music timed with good food which was a sufi topping to the whole experience. Also like to mention Afzal who gave good recommendation on food choice.

The place is small and you will need to book a table in advance. The menu is also small but in that they have made sure to cook amazing food. The food is was really tasty. Specially the mutton seekh kabab. Truely good. Totally worth coming here. Worth the money also. Definitely recommended for coming with family and friends.

I would recommend reserving as waiting time can be high especially on fridays. Loved the food though the quantity was on the lower side. We ordered kebab pao (it was okay, just a pav with a small piece of kebab inside. Don't expect much). The mutton seekh kebab and chicken malai badami tikka were amazing (both come with naan and dips). Ended our meal with some delicious phirni!

Some places need no introduction, they simply grow on you. Cafe Nur, true to its name, is built on warmth, tradition, and flavours that feel deeply familiar yet quietly special. Tucked into Fort and open till 3 AM, this is the kind of space that works for everything, late dinners, long conversations, post-work cravings, or comfort meals with family. What sets it apart is the approach: no oil, no butter, every dish is prepared in pure ghee, letting the flavours stay rich yet honest. The Chicken Dum Biryani brings depth without being heavy, the Seekh Kebabs speak for themselves, and the Chicken Badami Tikka lands smooth, subtle, and indulgent in all the right ways. Add to that a soulful Nihari, a nostalgic Gud Ka Sharbat, and desserts like Anjeer Malai Kulfi and Pashtun Halwa, and you realise this is food made to be remembered, not rushed. NUR isn’t about chasing trends. It’s about slowing down, eating well, and coming back, because some places just get it right. Horniman Circle, Kala Ghoda, Fort, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400001
